In Pompano Beach, city officials are also setting up a tree drop-off site at the west end of Pompano Air Park, 1401 NE 10th St. “We strongly encourage residents to recycle their trees, or they can put them out for pickup with their bulk trash,” said city spokeswoman Monique Damiano. Residents are also being asked to take their trees to one of the county’s recycling sites. Larger trees should be cut in half and put in the city’s green yard carts. In Fort Lauderdale, Christmas trees shorter than 6 feet are suitable for bulk trash pickup.
Several other cities are urging residents to toss their trees to the curb for normal bulk trash pickup, including Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale and Coral Springs.
